How could you not love this face!

Here's Maverick just hangin out on his doggy bed... he's just the cutest thing in the world....
Today, however, he's being a pest! I'd love to be sleeping right now but he'd love to be playing!
We've gone on 2 walks, and i've just given him a marrow bone, which will occupy him for a few hours. Haha so instead of typing this blog, I should be trying to lay down for a few....

Maverick started 2 weeks ago going to Camp Bow Wow -- its going well - they love him there and the main thing is their outdoor area has ROCKS instead of WOOD CHIPS... every time he came home from Happy Tails, his other day care, he'd poo pure wood chips the next day which I'm sure was not good for him... Thankfully, Maverick does not eat rocks. (usually)

I'm at such a loss on how to teach him not to eat sticks.... Every time we go outside its one big stick eating fest... its so annoying! "Leave it" and "Drop it" only work sometimes. I'd tried clicking and treating everytime he'd drop something but then i think he thought it was a game of pick up everything!!!


He had his first snow storm the other day. He loves snow! I was worried because he hates rain, but he loves to run in the snow and lick it! Sooo cute... I've got to get myself a better pair of waterproof boots if he thinks I'm going to be frolicking in the snow with him all winter long...


Other news, I bought us a house! The closing is in 3 days... I'm very excited... There's so much more room for Maverick to run, and a big yard for him to play in! I know he'll be so much happier there, but I'm hoping the transition is okay for him... its stressful enough for me... now I have to worry about him too!!!!!! He better not mark up my new house with pee!!!!
He's never peed in my house here; so hopefully he knows better.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I wish I've kept up this blog more, but there's only so many hours in a day... So here's the latest news on the puppy front. On November 12th he got neutered... poor baby! He was so pathetic when he got home... I brought him home to the vet and he just laid on my lap, so I put the tv on, grabbed a blanket and held him on my lap the entire night...

This first picture here is just of Maverick hanging out on the couch at my parents house... he's a lazy dog sometimes... but i don't mind... he is a good snuggler!

This next picture is of Maverick when he got home from the vet... He absolutely hated the cone! He couldn't walk with it on... so i hardly put it on him and he didn't really touch the stitches....

After 12 days I tried to take the stitches out myself but for some reason he absolutely freaked out when i tried ot take them out! so i took him to the vet and he freaked out there too.. :( they had to muzzle him... I'm not sure why.... but he was not having it...

So, today we're going to puppy playgroup which will be the first time he's been allowed to play since his surgery! I bet he's been going a little stir crazy... we still walk every day, and we went to our graduate puppy class last week; but when the other dogs played, i just took him out for a walk... I think he was upset he couldn't play. He just looks at me with those pathetic eyes....

So this is Maverick on the first day I got him! Look at those ears!!! He was so cute, running right to me even on that day.... the beginning of the awesome bond I have with him :)

I'm sorry I haven't kept up with this!!

Wow... I set up this blog so I could chronicle Maverick's arrival and growing up, but omg, raising a puppy has been sooo overwhelming and kept me so busy I have not had time to update the blog! Well, lets start now... so Maverick is asleep next to me right now, and its 2am... I'm not tired yet, but he's exhausted....

Let me start though, at the beginning, so I don't ever forget where he came from...
even though Maverick came from a "breeder" -- I purchased him from a kennel.... which, I've since learned is a glorified pet store...
Maverick came home to me at about 3 lbs - he was very timid and tired a lot.... the second night he was home he started having this scary choking cough --- turned out he had kennel cough... the vet put him on antibiotics for a week... and a week later he wasn't better, so he was on another antibiotic for 10 days... in addition, he was having diarrhea... he was diagnosed with giardia and coccidia and put on Metronidazole for 7 days.... he continued to have diarrhea after having the first course of medicine, so another 7 day course of Metronidazole was given... then he had a deworming Panacur treatment for 7 days... then another course of Metronidazole, and is currently taking a 14 day course of Metronidazole along with a 10 day course of Amoxicillin...

Point being is, please please please research where your puppy comes from.... I do not actually know where Maverick came from, somewhere in Missouri... (AKA PUPPY MILL) but I never wanted a puppy from a puppy mill... I was stupid and naive... I just wanted to get a puggle!!!!

But of course, I wouldn't trade him for anything... Maverick is the best puppy in the entire universe!!!! Is that possible?

So today he's almost 5 1/2 months old.... he's the cutest puppy ever... he's also super sweet, super affectionate... super smart, and super curious!!!!!

We've been to puppy kindergarten, which he graduated from with flying colors.... He loves all his friends @ puppy school... he also gets to see a lot of them when we go to play group on Friday mornings, and also to the Petco playgroup on Wednesdays....

Maverick can "sit" "down" "up" "stand" he can also give "paw" "high five" "roll over" "belly up" "beg" "kiss" --- the main thing we're working on these days is recall..... when I call him he needs to come to me... and he'll do it sometimes... but not all of the time... thats our main objective at this time....

I will update more again about Maverick... ideally i'd like to post at least every few days so I am keeping up with whats going on in his life....


Today, Maverick spent the day @ grandma & grandpa's... he LOVES it there.... Grandma spoils him soooo rotten.... They got him this giant carrot... yes, a carrot.... Maverick LOVES carrots, but this carrot was ginormous! haha... it was so cute to watch him play with the carrot.

but now, he's home with me, sound asleep at this time... i want him to get up so we can sleep in in the am!

Less than 2 weeks until my puppy arrives!!

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my puppy. Less than 2 weeks and he will be here! I'm ready. I still have a few puppy proofing things to get done, but I have plenty of time. His crate is here... He's got tons of toys... I've got this blog set up for him, and also set up a way so I can set up my computer for LIVE STREAMING VIDEO of him -- so I can see him when I'm at work... This may be a little obsessive, but I know I will miss him when I go to work.... Luckily I have an entire week off to spend with him...

We will have to practice being apart however, even though I think I will want to be with him 24 hrs a day, I don't want him to have separation anxiety when I leave and howl all night. My landlord will NOT be happy about that....

My First Post.... PUPPY PREPARATIONS

I will be the mommy of Maverick the puggle who will be arriving in 3 weeks...
I decided to start a blog because it might be fun to chronicle his arrival and growth and be able to share it with family and friends...

Right now Maverick is 5 weeks old and is still at the breeder with his doggie mommy.... I can't wait to bring him home...

I've been busy with preparations. I never knew how many puppy toys and accessories there were and I can't help myself sometimes... I love to shop and this gives me a whole new outlet for shopping...

I also need to puppy proof my house. I've purchased a crate already; but I need to get a baby gate because I'm not going to let him upstairs, just yet... We have to potty train first...
